The battle is on, the lines are drawn and there is no going back. They are ready and have put there entire army on the field. It is been planned since the last battle 365days ago. Millions have been spent to win to crush there enemies. And let there be no doubt they are great at what they do.
Retailers across the US and globally have prepared for days like ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Cyber Monday’ for some time. Many of which will make more from today to Christmas than they will the rest of the year. The goal is to get you to use what disposable income and unused credit you have buying there products. The goal is simple get the consumer to your establishment, drain the wallets and purses and leave none for there competitors. It is a brutal game to them. They may have hot chocolate and cookies out for you as you brave the cold and lines to chase their deals. Spent all your money? No worries we have pre-approved credit cards(not all may qualify).
I have a online business so I understand retail at a level. What I don’t understand is how we have corporations control us. Measured and calculated purchases of quality goods and services are fine. What I don’t get is the way there one day only deals get us to do things we would otherwise not. Yes I like a deal, but here is my argument.
We spend a holiday together as a family, warm, happy and enjoying the company(not all may qualify). At some point we would look through the holiday ads to see what people would like for Christmas. Those impatient among us would run out get through our retail torture and go home happy and through with the madness. Still others went out to enjoy the trappings, hustle and bustle of the season(I’ve never understood these people). Now retailers continuously trying to up the game have moved the sales and promotions to Thanksgiving itself. “Family Time” spend it at our stores they would say. You want off for Thanksgiving! You must be crazy it is our most profitable day.
What I am trying to say is let us enjoy our time with family and friends. I for one do not plan on spending a dime this Friday. I would encourage you to do the same. Retailers even though they give you a card saying the opposite. They are only your friend as long as you feed them your income.
Quit letting them win the war year after year!
